Job Title: Associate Attorney - Global Transportation Finance
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Transportation Asset Finance practice. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated attorney to engage in complex, high-value transactions within a collaborative environment. The role supports structured financing, leasing, and asset management of aircraft, maritime, rail, and related equipment for a distinguished roster of institutional clients. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience, client exposure, and professional development while working closely with senior attorneys in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced legal setting.
Duties:
Support and manage domestic and cross-border transactional matters involving the acquisition, financing, leasing, and disposition of transportation-related assets
Draft, negotiate, and review a range of commercial agreements, financing documents, and closing deliverables
Collaborate with shareholders, partners, and client stakeholders across multiple time zones and jurisdictions
Assist in structuring deals involving secured lending, securitization, and other structured finance mechanisms
Engage in business development efforts and contribute to client relationship management initiatives
Handle multiple active deals simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining precision
Participate in mentorship and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team
Requirements:
2 to 6 years of experience in a transactional practice at a reputable law firm
Demonstrated familiarity with one or more of the following: asset-based lending, structured finance, private equity, real estate finance, leveraged finance, aviation finance, maritime finance, or project finance
Proven ability to independently manage complex transactions from inception through closing
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Admitted to practice in Illinois or actively pursuing admission
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance
Certifications:
Admission to the Illinois Bar (or pending admission)
Skills:
