A full-service law firm is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate to join its Environmental Law Practice Group in Indianapolis, Indiana. This opportunity allows an attorney to work alongside experienced practitioners within a well-established and expanding environmental practice. The role offers meaningful exposure to complex environmental and civil litigation matters and strong potential for professional development.
Handle complex environmental and civil litigation matters in both federal and state courts.
Represent clients in matters involving toxic torts, environmental cost recovery, insurance coverage disputes related to contaminated property, and class or mass tort actions.
Participate in administrative proceedings before agencies such as the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Research, interpret, and apply federal and state environmental statutes, regulations, and guidance materials.
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, clients, and external advisors while maintaining a high standard of client service.
One to three years of experience in a legal setting, either in-house or at a law firm.
Strong legal research, writing, drafting, advocacy, and analytical capabilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated initiative in developing professional expertise and visibility within the legal community.
Prior exposure to complex civil or administrative litigation is preferred, particularly in environmental or regulatory matters.
Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure with diverse stakeholders.
High ethical standards, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
Comfortable using legal technology and capable of independently producing routine work product.
Juris Doctor from a reputable and accredited law school, with academic performance in the top 20% of the graduating class.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills for internal collaboration and client advising.
Advanced legal research and analytical abilities.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a client-focused mindset.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining quality and accuracy.
