Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join their team, ideally based in Denver, Colorado. This role offers the flexibility of fully remote or hybrid work arrangements. The successful candidate will engage in drafting and prosecuting high-technology patent applications, with a focus on software and artificial intelligence, before the USPTO.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute software and AI patent applications before the USPTO.
• Respond to office actions, including claim amendments and Examiner interviews.
• Manage PCT applications and coordinate with foreign associates.
• Assist with freedom-to-operate, patentability, and validity opinions.
• Support pre-litigation and post-grant work as needed.
• Build and maintain client relationships and provide strategic IP counseling.
• Contribute to business development and growth of the US practice.

Requirements

• Registration to practice before the USPTO as a patent agent.
• 2-5 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Experience with software and AI patents is essential.
• Strong legal drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage a busy docket.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.

Certifications

• USPTO registration as a patent agent.

Skills

• Proficiency in drafting technically precise and strategically positioned claims.
• Experience with AI tools in patent practice is advantageous.
