Appellate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Overland Park is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Appellate Attorney to work remotely. The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing arguments to appeal administrative decisions. The role requires excellent communication skills, minimal direct management, and a background in Social Security Disability law or appellate work. An active attorney license, preferably in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma, is required. Experience in Social Security Disability law and writing appeals is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare persuasive arguments for appealing administrative decisions.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support appellate arguments.
• Review and analyze administrative records and legal documents.
• Communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders regarding case developments.
• Ensure all appellate briefs and documents comply with legal standards and deadlines.
• Manage caseload efficiently while working independently with minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

• Active attorney license through a state bar association, preferably in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma.
• Experience with Social Security Disability law (preferred).
• Experience writing appeals (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal direct oversight.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the state of practice, preferably MO, KS, or OK.
