Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience to join its Chemical Patent Prosecution Practice Group in Alexandria, VA. This hybrid role requires in-office presence three days per week and offers the opportunity to work on complex technologies.

Duties

• Analyze and prepare replies to office actions.
• Conduct invention and disclosure meetings with clients.
• Prepare and prosecute new patent applications.
• Counsel clients on patent-related matters and portfolio analysis.
• Handle agreements and related transactions.
• Assist with appeals and training of junior professionals.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of post-AIA patent prosecution experience.
• Technical background in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, or chemical engineering.
• Superior technical knowledge, writing, and communication skills.
• Fluency in a foreign language is a plus; Japanese or Korean preferred.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Master*s or Doctorate in a relevant field preferred.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice and in good standing before a state bar and the USPTO.
