Duties

• Conduct discovery and draft legal documents.
• Litigate cases before an administrative law judge.
• Represent employer or insurer interests at hearings and other proceedings.
• Monitor loss run reports and alert management to concerns.
• Assist in accident investigations and manage costs to reduce liability.
• Compile and submit management reports.
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Illinois bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus.
• Experience in workers' compensation or general liability defense.
• Working knowledge of legal principles and practices.
• In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and terminology.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Certifications

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar
