Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Counsel to join their Practice Innovation team in Palo Alto. The role involves advancing practice-specific initiatives to maximize the value of innovation technologies and practices. The Innovation Counsel will collaborate with various teams to drive best practices and introduce new tools and processes.

Duties

• Provide attorney-level input on legal technology adoption initiatives.
• Design playbooks for best practices in innovation technologies.
• Organize presentations, status reports, and executive briefings.
• Collaborate with leadership on initiative prioritization processes.
• Work with innovation teams to develop objectives and success metrics.
• Analyze practice group workflows to identify improvement areas.
• Drive legal technology pilots and continuous improvements.
• Develop communication campaigns and change measurement processes.
• Maintain practice group-specific resources and automate efforts.

Requirements

• 4+ years of applicable experience in legal practice or technology adoption.
• Active bar membership or registered in-house counsel status.
• Experience in cross-functional projects involving legal technology.
• Understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes.

Education

• Juris Doctor or non-US equivalent.

Certifications

• Active member in good standing of the bar(s) in applicable jurisdictions.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and firm applications.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve legal service delivery problems.
• Experience with technology usage data and metrics.
• Ability to build and grow business relationships.
• Effective collaboration in a matrixed team environment.
