Consumer Finance Special Counsel

Profile

A law firm in Sacramento is seeking a Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The candidate will primarily handle regulatory counseling and drafting related to federal and state consumer lending laws. They should possess solid experience in consumer finance, including advising both bank and non-bank financial institutions, negotiating contracts, and interpreting licensing requirements.

Duties:

• Provide regulatory counseling and drafting services primarily focused on federal and state consumer lending laws.
• Advise on compliance with regulations such as the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
• Draft contracts and lending documents for consumer and commercial purposes.
• Interpret licensing requirements and ensure compliance for financial institutions.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide guidance to clients accordingly.
• Conduct thorough research on consumer finance laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active member of the Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
• Strong background in consumer finance, especially in compliance counseling.
• Proficiency in negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulatory interpretation.
• Preferred experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Education and Certifications:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction.
