Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney to join their Chicago, Illinois office. This role involves working within a dynamic team to manage a variety of defense litigation cases, including personal injury, wrongful death, premises, products liability, and transportation. The position offers a hybrid work environment and the opportunity to collaborate closely with senior attorneys and clients.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, discovery, demurrers, and motions to strike.
• Communicate with clients, claims adjusters, and witnesses, providing updates and strategic input.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on case strategy.
• Assist in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Participate in depositions and court appearances.
• Defend clients in civil litigation and arbitration involving personal injury, property damage, medical malpractice, construction, transportation, and product liability matters.
• Attend court hearings and mediations both remotely and in-person.
• Work closely with senior attorneys to prepare for mediations and settlement conferences.

Requirements

• Active bar license in Illinois.
• 1-4 years of litigation and/or civil litigation experience in either state or federal court.
• Experience with trial preparation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional writing, organizational, and advocacy skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar license in Illinois.
