Job Overview:
A leading international law firm is seeking a full-time, USPTO-registered Team Attorney to join its Electronics & Software practice group. This role focuses on patent prosecution involving software technologies and offers an alternative to traditional partnership-track positions, with a reduced billable hour requirement. The attorney will work closely with clients on patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic intellectual property guidance across a wide range of innovative software domains.

Location:

• San Francisco, CA

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications, primarily related to software technologies

• Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio development

• Counsel clients on intellectual property protection and enforcement

• Conduct prior art searches and analyze invention disclosures

• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to support client matters

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution

• USPTO Registration Number (active)

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines within a team-based environment

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in:

  • Computer Engineering

  • Computer Science

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mathematics

  • Physics

  • Or a related technical field

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration (required)

• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferred)

Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in software-related technologies such as:

  • Cloud computing

  • Security encryption

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Bioinformatics

  • Mobile applications

  • Databases

  • Networking

• Ability to provide client-focused legal solutions
