Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Labor and Employment Associate in Troy to perform legal research, manage discovery, draft legal documents, attend hearings, and support partner-level attorneys in employment-related litigation and traditional labor matters.

Duties

• Conduct thorough and high-quality legal research.
• Assist with all areas of discovery, including drafting requests and responses.
• Prepare legal briefs and other pleadings.
• Collaborate with partner-level attorneys on document production.
• Draft responses to EEOC and MDCR charges.
• Handle motion hearings, mediations, and depositions.
• Prepare trial materials and assist at trial proceedings.

Requirements

• 3-6 years' experience in employment-related litigation and client counseling.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Good organizational and project management skills.
• Experience in managing discovery and depositions.
• Proficient in online legal research services, including Westlaw.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience in traditional labor matters is a plus.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to the Michigan State Bar, or eligible for prompt admission.
