A prominent Long Island-based family and matrimonial law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience in divorce or family law. Duties:
Advise clients on legal matters involving divorce, custody, child support, and related family law issues
Maintain professional relationships with clients and provide consistent case updates
Negotiate favorable settlement terms and draft comprehensive settlement agreements
Represent clients in court proceedings including hearings and trials
Prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, and related litigation documents
Assist in trial preparation and participate in strategy sessions
Perform legal research and apply findings to case strategy
Maintain an average of 35 billable hours per week
Uphold professional and ethical legal standards
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in matrimonial or family law
Ability to build trust with clients and foster collaborative team relationships
Strong negotiation, litigation, and advocacy skills
Excellent time management and organizational capabilities
Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to practice law in the State of New York
In good standing with the New York State Bar
Skills:
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Proficient in drafting settlement documents and litigation pleadings
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented setting
Sensitivity to clients navigating emotionally challenging circumstances
