Where you fit
This position is for a full-time privacy legal counsel within the Shell Ethics and Compliance Office (SECO) who will be based in the US. The legal counsel will be a member of the global data privacy team led by the Chief Privacy Officer. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of applicable and emerging data privacy laws; particularly those in the US in terms of data breach regulations, and impending privacy laws. They should be familiar with, or willing to learn about, the regulatory landscape that governs the use of information technology.
What’s the role?
The Privacy Counsel will work closely with legal and business stakeholders and with data privacy team members globally, though they will have responsibility for guiding and advising on privacy compliance within the US.
You will be required to have strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work with others on a collaborative basis, flexibility, interpersonal skills, legal research skills, organizational skills, sound judgment and initiative and a sense of humour.

Requirements:
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
J.D. from an accredited law school required.
Licensed to practice law in Texas, or able to obtain license in a reasonable timeframe.
Minimum of seven (7) years' relevant work experience.
Proven experience in advising on data privacy matters.
Knowledge and experience to quickly identify data privacy legal risks.
Understanding of the interaction between IT and data privacy compliance.
Broad experience in dealing with complex regulations and processes.
Ability to work in a dynamic legal environment with clients who need to quickly respond to operational and regulatory demands.
