Collections Associate

The candidate must be licensed in Maryland and Virginia (District of Columbia is a plus). Our ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience practicing general collections work for banks or other creditors, exceptional research and communication skills, a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously and excellent academic credentials. Independently manage a caseload of 250-400 active collection cases from initial intake to closing of files. Work closely with paralegals, administrative assistants and Shareholders on collection case load. Review and interpret client documents and draft legal opinions for Shareholder review. Regularly handle court appearances in multiple jurisdictions and handle abatement court cases for enforcement of covenants. Routinely communicate with community association clients and their management agents and provide routine status reports. Manage billing of hourly time and via task codes for fixed fee collections work. Routinely attend on-site meetings at client community associations to oversee elections and Board meetings. JD from an accredited law school. Admitted to practice in Virginia and Maryland. 2-4 years’ experience in collections. Experience with collections, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act compliance, district court, and post-judgment enforcement. Legal project management experience is helpful. Prior experience managing paralegals and other staff.
