Patent Agent

Profile

A law firm in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Patent Agent with strong technical backgrounds and a preference for candidates registered to practice before the USPTO or planning to sit for the registration exam. The ideal candidate should possess 1-8 years of relevant experience.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in a variety of technical fields.
• Conduct patent searches and provide analysis of prior art.
• Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to assess and develop patent strategies.
• Assist in patent portfolio management, including patent portfolio analysis and competitive intelligence.
• Stay updated on changes in patent law and regulations.
• Support patent litigation by providing technical expertise.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as engineering or the sciences.
• 1-8 years of experience in patent-related work.
• Strong technical knowledge and the ability to understand complex technical concepts.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures (preferred).
• Registration to practice before the USPTO or intent to sit for the registration exam (preferred).

Education:
