Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney with 5 or more years of experience defending general liability claims to join their Omaha, NE office. The firm is expanding and offers opportunities for professional growth. Portable business is a plus, but not required.

Duties

• Gather and analyze medical evidence and records.
• Depose plaintiffs, physicians, experts, and other parties.
• Conduct discovery and perform legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Communicate with claims representatives.
• Investigate and analyze accidents and potential claims.
• Manage costs to reduce liability.
• Compile and submit required reports.
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and insurers.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Nebraska Bar and Iowa Bar.
• 5+ years of experience in general liability claims defense.
• Knowledge of legal principles and practices.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal laws.
• Proficiency in legal research techniques and terminology.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

• Admission to the Nebraska Bar and Iowa Bar.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word; legal software experience preferred.
