Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Belleville, IL. The successful candidate will manage litigation cases and resolve legal disputes by developing agreements, negotiating contracts, setting claims, and advocating for clients in court. This role offers an opportunity for attorneys with fewer than five years of experience, including those with backgrounds as State's Attorneys, Public Defenders, or civil litigators, to practice law at a high level.

Duties

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.
• Draft pleadings and motions.
• Develop discovery strategy and manage discovery requests and productions.
• Prepare for, take, and defend depositions.
• Attend court remotely and in person as needed.
• Manage or assist with substantial components of a broad range of litigation.

Requirements

• No family law experience required; any type of litigation background is acceptable.
• Must be able to travel as needed to courts across the Southern Illinois area.

Education

• J.D. and license to practice law in Illinois.

Certifications

• License to practice law in Illinois.
