A law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney to join its Criminal Defense team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of trial experience and a strong background in criminal law. The Associate Attorney will handle cases from start to finish, providing defense strategies, courtroom representation, and client advocacy.

Location:

• Norfolk, VA

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases, ensuring strong legal advocacy and defense strategies.
• Handle cases from investigation through trial, including pre-trial motions, depositions, and hearings.
• Provide legal counsel and guidance to clients throughout the duration of their cases.
• Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare case files.
• Engage in courtroom litigation, including representing clients at trial.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and staff to develop case strategies and legal approaches.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and developments.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3-5 years of courtroom experience in criminal defense or related areas.
• Active membership in the Virginia State Bar.
• Proven trial experience and strong litigation skills.
• Experience handling a variety of criminal defense cases, from misdemeanors to felonies.
• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and work under pressure.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Virginia State Bar.
