A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join its growing Intellectual Property group. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and motivated attorney with a background in mechanical engineering and a commitment to building a long-term career in patent law. The position offers exposure to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and an opportunity to work within a collaborative, multi-office team of IP professionals.

Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical and related fields
Draft responses to Office Actions from the USPTO
Conduct prior art searches and prepare patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity opinions
Collaborate with inventors and clients to assess inventions and develop IP protection strategies
Support IP due diligence efforts related to transactions and licensing
Keep current on changes in patent law, procedures, and technologies relevant to client industries
Assist with portfolio management and strategic counseling on intellectual property matters
1–3 years of experience in patent prosecution
Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, deadlines, and client communications
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Enthusiasm for IP law and long-term practice development
Experience working in a law firm or comparable legal setting preferred
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Strong academic performance required
Active registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Admission to the bar in any U.S. state, with eligibility to obtain bar admission in the office's jurisdiction if not already held
Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering (required)
Excellent legal and technical writing skills
Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into legal applications
Strong research and analytical skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Familiarity with patent filing software and docketing systems is a plus
