Responsibilities: Staffing a statewide legal helpline and providing information, referral, support, and advocacy to elder victims of financial abuse and/or their surrogates. Provide victim services that are trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented. Provide emergency civil legal assistance, such as evictions and elder abuse restraining orders, and other civil legal information and services as permitted by VOCA guidelines. Assist victims in navigating the criminal justice system, including the following: applying for crime victim compensation; and participating in criminal justice proceedings, such as restitution advocacy and assistance with victim impact statements. assist with personal advocacy regarding consumer credit problems caused by financial exploitation by intervening with creditors and others on behalf of the victim. Undertake outreach events and presentations (remotely or in-person): to audiences that may include attorneys, law enforcement, bankers, financial professionals, court personnel, aging professionals, social workers, adult protective services, elder abuse investigators, and long term care case managers, to enable them to recognize and refer cases of financial exploitation; to audiences that may include elder consumers and caregivers of elders to understand the dynamics of financial exploitation and to report such crimes. Participate in coordination and cooperation with other service providers, including Financial Abuse Specialist Teams, Wisconsin Identity Theft Coalition, and other programs of the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Increase the visibility of the Project and the Coalition. Work with Project Director and President to monitor grant(s) including the following: compliance with and successful timely completion of the work plan; secure additional funding related to this project; assist with the monitoring of grant funds; maintain records as required by the grants, and timely write and submit all required grant reports.
