Job Overview

A law firm seeks a National Security and Global Trade Associate to join its practice in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, CFIUS, and national security-related issues in corporate and financial transactions. This role involves collaboration with various teams on complex, cross-border matters for multinational clients.

Duties

• Advise clients on U.S. economic sanctions, including compliance counseling and risk assessments.
• Counsel on export controls under EAR and ITAR regulations.
• Support CFIUS and national security reviews, including transaction structuring and filings.
• Conduct diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
• Draft and review compliance policies and contractual provisions.
• Assist with internal investigations and responses to government inquiries.
• Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary matters.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of relevant experience in international trade, sanctions, export controls, or national security matters.
• Experience supporting transactions involving trade or national security considerations.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Admission to practice (or eligibility for admission) in the relevant jurisdiction.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school, with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying.
