Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time attorney with at least three years of experience to join its Public Law Practice Group in Cortland, NY. The ideal candidate will be admitted to the New York State Bar and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional legal services to municipal clients.

Duties

• Interpret and advise on municipal law, education law, SEQR, code enforcement, land use, and zoning.
• Represent municipal clients at various board meetings.
• Draft and review local laws, resolutions, policies, procedures, and contracts.
• Defend municipal clients in litigation and claims, including Article 78 proceedings.
• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
• Prosecute code enforcement cases, including building and zoning code violations.

Requirements

• Current New York Bar admission.
• 3+ years of experience in Public Law preferred.
• Desire to develop and further legal skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
