A law firm seeks a Senior Commercial Real Estate Transactions Attorney in Walnut Creek, California. Duties

  • Conduct due diligence and draft reports for commercial property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing transactions.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, leases, joint venture agreements, and loan documents.
  • Advise clients on land use, zoning, entitlements, environmental compliance, and permitting issues.
  • Coordinate closings, including preparation of closing checklists, resolution of title and survey matters, and coordination with lenders, escrow agents, and title companies.
  • Manage relationships with clients, third-party consultants, and local government agencies to facilitate transaction success.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and supervise support staff in document drafting, file management, and calendaring.
  • Monitor transaction timelines, budgets, and risk factors to ensure efficient matter progression.

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing.
  • Proven track record managing high-value property transactions and complex closings.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development acumen.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • Any real estate or mediation certifications, if held.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of commercial real estate law, financing structures, and title issues.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and transaction management platforms.
  • Outstanding oral advocacy and presentation abilities.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under tight deadlines.
