A Wilmington, DE-based law firm is currently seeking a litigation attorney with mid-level experience to join its Insurance & Reinsurance practice. This position is ideal for a legal professional with a deep understanding of commercial and professional insurance coverage and a strong background in complex civil litigation. The role will focus on high-stakes disputes, often involving layered policies and intricate coverage matters across diverse sectors.
Duties:
Handle coverage analysis for general liability, directors & officers, and professional liability policies
Draft motions, pleadings, and memoranda for complex commercial litigation
Conduct all phases of discovery, including e-discovery, interrogatories, and motion practice
Prepare for and take depositions; attend court hearings as appropriate
Manage and develop client relationships with a focus on strategic advisory and responsiveness
Collaborate with senior attorneys on high-profile insurance litigation and arbitration cases
Support internal initiatives related to practice growth and innovation
Requirements:
4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation
Prior exposure to high-value or multi-party litigation in federal and/or state courts
Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation tasks and deadlines
Solid understanding of insurance policy language and risk transfer principles
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to the Delaware State Bar, or eligibility to waive in
Skills:
Exceptional legal research and persuasive writing capabilities
Strong verbal communication and courtroom presence
Detail-oriented approach with the ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously
Proficient in litigation management tools and case tracking systems
Business-savvy mindset and interest in supporting client development efforts
