Provide legal counsel and transactional support related to:
New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs)
Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits (HTCs)
Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETCs)
Opportunity Zone investments
Draft, review, and negotiate financing documents for tax credit and related transactions
Collaborate with developers, investors, lenders, and government entities on financing structures
Guide clients through compliance requirements and regulatory due diligence
Advise on entity structuring and partnership/joint venture agreements
Coordinate with interdisciplinary legal teams, including real estate, finance, and environmental counsel
Minimum of 7 years’ experience practicing law, with a primary focus on tax credit finance
Demonstrated experience leading complex transactions involving one or more tax credit programs
Strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships independently
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to become admitted in Michigan if not already licensed
Deep knowledge of tax credit structures and associated transactional documentation
Proficiency in real estate and finance law as it intersects with public/private investment models
Clear, persuasive communication skills in client and counterpart discussions
