Assistant/Associate Professor, Legal Studies, Paralegal Coordinator
The candidate will serve as a Legal Studies faculty member and collaborator with the Chair, Justice and Legal Studies, and the Sullivan Career Center (for internships). Will teach seven (7) undergraduate courses within the Justice and Legal Studies Department. Advise undergraduate Legal Studies and Paralegal Certificate students. Actively participate in the National Association of Paralegal Association (NFPA) and regional affiliates in order to ensure that students are apprised of internship and scholarship opportunities facilitated by this organization. Encourage students to attend conferences and networking opportunities with groups in other areas; especially those affiliated with NFPA. Maintain Legal Studies courses, as determined by the Dept. Chair, to reflect ongoing changes in the field and ABA guidelines. Collaborate with Chair, Justice and Legal Studies Department on the completion of annual assessment reports. Maintain scheduled on campus office hours according to University policy. Serve as a WELL 100 instructor and adviser on a rotating basis. Attend faculty, department, School and University meetings. Assist the admissions office with Justice and Legal Studies recruitment by keeping admissions materials current, participating in Open Houses and other admissions events, calling and writing prospective students and other activities as requested. Maintain an active presence on the campus including attendance at all major University events (e.g. Commencement, Academic Convocation) and student events. Provide assistant for grants or other fundraising efforts as requested. Stay current with best practices in teaching and learning effectiveness to shape faculty and curriculum development activities to increase student learning. Participate in University committees as requested. Incorporate technology to enhance student learning. Understand and appreciate the University's mission, purpose and goals and the role of faculty in achieving those goals.
