A law firm seeks a talented and motivated Tax Associate to join its transactional tax team in Rochester, NY. This opportunity is perfect for candidates with experience in M&A, partnership matters, fund formation, and private equity. Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a desire to work in a collaborative environment handling complex tax issues.

Duties

• Provide tax guidance on transactional matters, including M&A, partnership structuring, and fund formation.
• Advise on tax aspects of private equity, REITs, and joint ventures.
• Draft and review tax-related documents, including partnership agreements and corporate structures.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to provide tax-efficient strategies.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and apply this knowledge to client matters.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in transactional tax law, with expertise in M&A and partnership issues.
• Solid background in fund formation, private equity, REITs, and joint ventures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tax matters and provide practical solutions to clients.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation is highly preferred, or significant tax coursework during J.D. studies.

Certifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of New York or eligible for admission.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of tax law, particularly in corporate, partnership, and transactional contexts.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
