Staff Attorney

Responsibilities: Provide eligibility and risk assessment, full representation, brief service, and/ or legal advice to low income clients filing applications, including family-based and humanitarian immigration petitions, waivers, U Visas, DACA, naturalization, consular processing, adjustments of status, and removal defense. Develop community relationships. Responsible for workshops, clinics, outreach activities and information sessions for immigrants, social service agencies serving immigrants, local government and community based organizations, and wineries and vineyard management companies. Outreach and workshops requires occasional evening and weekend events. Comply with policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices for non-profit immigration law practice, including legal ramifications, fee collection, maintenance of client files and data for reporting requirements. Participate in regular peer review meetings and legal trainings. Assess fees for services, sign contracts with clients, work with administrative staff to ensure fees are collected and applications are filed in a timely manner. Ensure Compliance with Grants: Ensure all relevant grant requirements are met. Ensure timely data collection for grant reporting. Track client services, case progress and outcomes as required. Train and help supervise administrative support staff, paralegals, legal interns and other volunteers. Represent at collaborative meetings and community events. Build relationships with community-based and local government partners to support outreach and civic engagement efforts. Participate in meetings and webinars on behalf and its partner organizations and collaborators. Occasionally take part in radio and television interviews, as well as support social media networking efforts.
