Job Overview:
A prominent commercial litigation law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney with over 5 years of experience in insurance defense and/or other litigation areas. The firm specializes in defending municipalities and school districts in civil litigation, particularly focusing on tort, employment, law enforcement, and land use matters. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and advocacy skills and trial experience. Partner-level candidates will also be considered for this position. The role offers competitive compensation based on experience.

Location:

• Carle Place, NY

Duties:

• Represent clients, primarily municipalities and school districts, in civil litigation matters.
• Focus on insurance defense, tort cases, employment-related issues, law enforcement, and land use litigation.
• Prepare and review legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Provide strong advocacy for clients in court and at trial.
• Work collaboratively with other attorneys and legal staff to build case strategies.
• Manage a diverse caseload from inception to resolution, including settlement negotiations and trial preparation.
• Mentor junior attorneys, if applicable.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in insurance defense and/or commercial litigation.
• Proven track record in civil litigation, particularly in defense matters involving municipalities or school districts.
• Strong written and verbal advocacy skills.
• Trial experience is preferred.
• Ability to manage complex cases independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Partner-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York (Required).

Skills:

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of cases.
