  • Handle regulatory compliance counseling and provide support for project development, finance, and mergers and acquisitions.

  • Engage in litigation involving regulatory approvals, audits, and enforcement actions for clients in the natural gas, liquid pipeline, and energy market sectors.

  • Advise on nuclear regulatory and safety matters, including compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations and handling nuclear facility licensing applications.

  • Draft legal memoranda, analyze energy regulations, and assist with due diligence for transactions and projects.

  • Manage multiple work streams and deliver results within short timeframes.

  • Work closely with senior attorneys and collaborate with internal subject matter experts.

  • Conduct legal research, prepare materials for business development, and assist with the training of junior associates.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in energy regulatory law, preferably with a background in transactional work.

  • Strong academic background, with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the Texas Bar (or the ability to become admitted) and in good standing.

  • Experience with regulatory bodies like FERC, NERC, and NRC is highly preferred.

  • Proficient in drafting complex legal documents related to energy law.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of legal work.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships and work effectively within a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Additional qualifications like an LLM or foreign equivalent are a plus.

Certifications:

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving.

Job Location:

  • Houston, TX (Hybrid work model available).

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Life and disability coverage.

  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.

  • Generous vacation time and leave programs (including parental leave).

  • Performance-based bonus opportunities (for exempt roles).
