Profile

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney based in Irvine, California. The successful candidate will join a collaborative legal team and handle a diverse array of complex disputes, including real estate, landlord–tenant matters, product-compliance claims, employment defense, partnership/shareholder conflicts, insurance coverage disputes, and other intricate business lawsuits.

Duties

  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and trial briefs

  • Conduct pretrial discovery: take and defend depositions, serve and respond to interrogatories, and organize large volumes of documents

  • Represent clients at trials, arbitrations, mediations, and hearings

  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients

  • Perform in-depth legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law using Westlaw or similar platforms

  • Prepare and present persuasive written submissions, including memoranda, briefs, and correspondence

  • Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, and support staff to develop case strategies and ensure effective workflow

  • Advise clients on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and potential outcomes

Requirements

  • Admission to the California State Bar (active license required)

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of civil litigation experience in at least two of the following areas:

    • Commercial real estate disputes

    • Commercial unlawful detainer actions

    • Proposition 65/product-compliance litigation

    • Employment defense litigation

    • Partnership and shareholder conflicts

    • Insurance coverage disputes

  • Demonstrated trial, arbitration, mediation, and deposition experience

  • Proven ability to negotiate favorable outcomes and manage settlement discussions

  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with facility in Westlaw (or comparable research tools)

  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a team-oriented office environment

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

Skills

  • Exceptional written and oral advocacy abilities

  • Proficiency in complex case management and courtroom procedures

  • Skilled at drafting clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents

  • Strong negotiation and client-counseling capabilities

  • Proficient with Westlaw (or equivalent legal research software)

  • Ability to guide and mentor support staff, fostering a collaborative team culture
