Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Division in Kansas City, MO. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, providing patentability assessments, and assisting with freedom to operate and due diligence assessments.

Duties

• Draft and globally prosecute patent applications.
• Coordinate with foreign law firms for filing foreign patent applications.
• Maintain client patent portfolio and manage deadlines.
• Collaborate with clients for document processing and legalization.
• Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing Licenses.
• Delegate tasks effectively to paralegals and legal assistants.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket.
• Ability to collaborate with partners and legal staff.
• Law firm or in-house IP experience.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar field.

Certifications

• U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
