Associate Counsel -Employment, Labor & Administrative Law

Duties: Provides legal counsel to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (“Authority”) focusing primarily on labor and employment law, administrative law, with cross functional work to contracts and real estate and litigation matters as needed. Within these disciplines, duties include providing legal support, as well as advice and counsel to various departments within the Authority. Represents the Authority’s interests in various administrative hearings, and before state and federal administrative agencies. Some litigation work may be required. Prepares legal reports and memoranda, and renders legal opinions as requested. Performing other duties of a similar nature may be required. Labor and employment law, labor arbitration, personnel and human resources. Administrative law; rendering legal opinions on public sector legal issues, including statutory compliance with federal, state and local laws. Contracting, including all matters at each phase of the procurement process from pre-solicitation through award, administration, termination, and contract closeout and general public construction contracting. Real property transactions, including acquisition, management and real estate claims. Legal assistance in project development, collaboration with other public entities, transit-oriented development, and engineering services. Must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a license to practice law in the state of Ohio. Should have 5+ years’ experience actively practicing law. Experience with civil law within a government entity or organization that deals with government/public labor and employment issues, administrative law, contracting, and analyzing, investigating, and resolving claims, disputes and related matters is preferred.
