Job Title: Energy, Environmental, And Infrastructure Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in Colorado Springs, CO, seeks an accomplished Associate Attorney to support its growing Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional with 3 to 7 years of post-JD experience in sophisticated transactional matters related to energy, natural resources, and infrastructure projects. The role will involve advising on a variety of commercial, development, and corporate matters within the renewable energy and natural resources sectors.
Duties:
Handle a range of transactional matters, including M&A, joint ventures, build-to-transfer arrangements, and commercial contracts
Advise on power purchase agreements (PPAs), operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts, shared facilities arrangements, and procurement deals involving materials and equipment
Support engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract negotiations, particularly for renewable energy generation facilities
Participate in project development and deal structuring across multiple stages of renewable energy and infrastructure projects
Engage with clients operating in the natural resources sector, including oil and gas transactions, where applicable
Contribute to complex deal teams and assume a lead or supporting role depending on the transaction size and scope
Maintain organized workflows, meet deadlines, and provide timely legal advice under minimal supervision
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage deliverables and transaction milestones
Requirements:
3-7 years of experience in a law firm or equivalent setting focused on energy, environmental, or infrastructure transactional work
Strong familiarity with renewable energy project development, commercial contracts, and corporate transactional matters
Proficiency in drafting and negotiating transactional documents
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Prior experience with project finance or infrastructure development is a plus
Oil and gas sector exposure is beneficial but not required
High attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and strong analytical capabilities
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Admission to and good standing with a U.S. State Bar (Colorado Bar admission preferred or willingness to obtain promptly)
Certifications:
Active Bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Additional certifications in project finance, energy law, or environmental law are advantageous
