Eviction Defense Project Outreach Paralegal
The candidate will support a team of 3 or more attorneys representing tenants facing eviction. The Paralegal’s primary responsibility is to share intake responsibilities amongst the 7-person Paralegal team to manage a high volume of requests from tenants for eviction defense support. Operate eleven regional offices, a state support unit, legislative advocacy unit, and statewide farmworker program. Work closely with Legal Aid Services of Oregon and other partners in Oregon’s coordinated civil legal services delivery system. Litigation support – printing and mailing, investigative assistance, document management, for example – on fast-paced eviction defense cases or translating documents from English to Spanish. Outreach to low-income tenants and communities, including building relationships with culturally-specific community-based organizations. Provide assistance to clients with their connections to non-legal resources such as rent assistance programs. Experience working with low-income communities is a plus. Experience in legal intake calls, preparation and filing of legal pleadings, document management, conducting case-related investigative research and use of case management software is preferred. Spanish skills are required.
