Senior Counsel
The candidate will be participating in and supporting business development activities including cross-functional review of RFQ/RFP requirements for professional and other services involving environmental, health, and safety; contract reviews; collaboration with senior managers in the Legal Department on non-standard contract terms; identification of risk and opportunity; and development of risk mitigation plans. Negotiating contractual issues in master service agreements, joint venture agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, site access agreements, third-party reliance letters, and other contract documents, including terms and conditions for waste handling, warranties and indemnities, bonds, delays and damages, penalties, insurance, and interactions with third parties. Should have a practical team player with the ability to professionally collaborate in a results-oriented environment. Transactional experience with the proven ability to lead negotiations; 6 years of experience as a practicing attorney or demonstration of equivalency of experience. Should have a bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in any state or the District of Columbia is a must. Should have experience as a practicing attorney supporting engineering, construction, and/or environmental services projects, including experience drafting and negotiating agreements and service-based contracts and/or handling claims and litigation; previous experience participating in and supporting business development activities including cross-functional review of RFQ/RFP requirements for professional and other services involving environmental, health, and safety; contract reviews; collaboration with senior managers in the Legal Department on non-standard contract terms; identification of risk and opportunity; and development of risk mitigation plans; legal experience with environmental, health, and safety matters; Well-developed communications skills; ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis to the management, clients, government authorities and other stakeholders. Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groups; the flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities; excellent writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred work location: Any location in the United States in which a major AECOM office is located.
