Equity and Title IX Investigator
Duties: Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Equity and Title IX Coordinator, the Equity & Title IX Investigator has primary responsibility for conducting prompt, thorough, and equitable investigations of allegations of violations of the University’s nondiscrimination and sexual misconduct policies. Act as an impartial and unbiased fact-finder to conduct and manage investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation. Create comprehensive investigation plan, conduct interviews, gather and review pertinent documentation, analyze evidence, determine policy violations, write comprehensive investigative reports, and keep accurate and thorough records and notes of investigatory process. Develop detailed well-written and comprehensive investigative reports to be used as a primary source of evidence in informal and formal administrative hearings and present investigative reports to a hearing panel or the Appropriate Administrative Officer. Use effective communication skills to communicate with parties and provide information and updates concerning investigations and resolutions while protecting the integrity and privacy of the investigation. Demonstrate critical-thinking and analytical reasoning skills as well as exercise sound professional judgment and decision-making. Demonstrate ability to handle complex situations, including responding to victims of trauma in a sensitive and informed manner, manage multiple cases, meet various deadlines, maintain neutrality and work under stress, and observe impartiality and confidentiality throughout the investigation process. Engage with Sr. Director/Title IX Coordinator and appropriate stakeholders to assess investigation findings and recommend course of action in accordance with university code of conduct and policies. Provide ongoing updates to Sr. Director/Title IX Coordinator and other administrators as necessary and appropriate. Collaborate with campus partners to ensure investigative, compliance, and equal opportunity standards and to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Maintain current expertise in the field including meaningful and continuing engagement, as well as training and professional development on inclusion, diversity, and equity issues. Advocate for improvements to the investigatory process; collaborate and engage in discussions to improve processes and procedures for efficiency. Assist with ensuring compliance and education for statutory and regulatory compliance regarding Nondiscrimination and Title IX and other initiatives as warranted.
