Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney in Syosset, NY, to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, writing, and communication skills to represent clients before the NYS Workers' Compensation Board and in related forums.

Duties

• Appear daily on behalf of clients in depositions, before the Workers' Compensation Board, and in settlement conferences.
• Prepare and draft documents such as appeals, rebuttals, stipulations, and settlement agreements.
• Advise clients on litigation strategy.
• Assess clients' exposure and negotiate settlements.
• Comply with all legal standards and regulations.
• Conduct legal research.

Requirements

• Admission to the NYS bar is preferred; candidates awaiting admission will be considered.
• Familiarity with NYS Workers' Compensation law and/or general insurance defense is ideal, but not required.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build rapport with clients.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet deadlines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar (preferred).
