Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is currently seeking a Renewable Energy Project Development & Finance Associate with at least three years of experience to join its Corporate team. The firm works on cutting-edge renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage, providing sophisticated legal services to developers, investors, corporate buyers, and utilities. This role offers the opportunity to engage directly with clients on high-impact projects while collaborating with a dynamic, forward-thinking team.

Location:

  • Reno, NV

Duties:

  • Represent clients in the renewable energy sector, handling wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage projects.
  • Draft and negotiate key agreements including power purchase agreements, asset purchase and sale agreements, hedge contracts, construction contracts, and more.
  • Advise clients on the development, financing, acquisition, and sale of renewable energy projects.
  • Assist in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate finance transactions within the renewable energy space.
  • Provide regulatory guidance on energy projects and transactions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and strategic advice.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on project execution and client management.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of law firm experience in project development, finance, mergers & acquisitions, and commercial contracts.
  • Experience in renewable energy law is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with power purchase agreements, asset/company sale agreements, and construction contracts is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in applicable jurisdiction(s), or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Expertise in renewable energy transactions, including project development and finance.
  • Proficient in contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Client-focused with a proven ability to manage complex legal matters.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on results.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
