Associate General Counsel

The candidate is responsible to perform a variety of legal work and participates in the performance of complex legal analysis, with an emphasis in transactional legal work, including such areas as real property sale/acquisition; commercial leasing; large equipment purchases; professional services agreements; software licensing; policy review and drafting; health care compliance; employment; and clinical operations. Participates in supporting and supervising litigation as assigned. Anticipates, identifies, and resolves legal issues. Emphasis in transactional legal work. Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and advises on contracts involving real property acquisition, medical space leases, software licenses, equipment purchases, professional services, employment, research, and related matters. Analyzes and responds to records requests made pursuant to state and federal law. Counsels leaders in order to develop legal strategies and solutions. Drafts, reviews, and advises on policies and procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other documents within legal specialty areas. Educates and trains University community about legal issues. Conducts and supervises legal research and analysis. Prepares written and verbal legal advice and opinions of counsel as needed. Coordinates legal services to departments and divisions within areas of legal specialty. Advises University management in administrative hearings and litigation and oversees legal representation in such cases. Negotiates settlements involving legal issues or transactions on behalf of the University in conjunction with other University officials. Supervises support staff, more junior attorneys, and outside counsel on a project basis.
