A law firm based in Springfield, MO, is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle various court appearances and litigation duties. The successful candidate will prepare for and attend court proceedings, manage litigation documents, communicate effectively with involved parties, and potentially travel for cases within and outside the local area, including overnight stays. This role requires licensure in Missouri and Kansas, with additional licensure in other states considered a plus. Duties:

  • Prepare thoroughly and appear on time for court appearances within a reasonable travel distance.
  • Travel overnight as required for court appearances in distant counties, using personal transportation.
  • Review and manage court call schedules, ensuring coverage is arranged where necessary, including attaching all required documents for appearances.
  • Draft, review, and file motions and other legal documents as part of ongoing litigation processes.
  • Prepare for trials and arbitrations, which may include overnight stays.
  • Communicate effectively with consumers, their employers, and their legal representation to resolve accounts and suits.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability in all court-related appearances.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the States of Missouri and Kansas.
  • Additional licensure in states such as IA, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, and NV is highly beneficial.
  • Proven experience in litigation, with a strong ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Capability to travel and stay overnight as required for case management and trial preparation.
  • Must possess reliable personal transportation for consistent, on-time court appearances.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing in Missouri and Kansas.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Proficiency in legal research and the use of legal software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
