Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced General Liability Attorney to join its Overland Park, KS office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defending general liability cases and handling civil claims. This role requires litigation experience in Missouri and Kansas courts, as well as strong legal research and negotiation skills.

Location:

• Overland Park, KS

Duties:

• Gather and review medical evidence and records.
• Conduct depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, medical experts, and other relevant parties.
• Handle discovery processes and legal research.
• Stay up to date with developments in applicable laws.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Litigate cases in Missouri Circuit Courts, Kansas District Courts, and Federal Courts.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings.
• Communicate effectively with claims representatives.
• Monitor loss run reports for trends and notify management of potential concerns.
• Assist in accident investigations and risk assessments.
• Manage case-related costs to minimize liability exposure.
• Compile and submit necessary reports to management.
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of insured clients.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in general liability and civil claims defense.
• Strong knowledge of legal principles, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
• Experience conducting legal research and drafting legal documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with Perfect Law legal software is preferred.
• Ability to maintain firm and client confidentiality.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Kansas and Missouri Bar.
• Candidates with a Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) score of 266 or higher from another state will be considered.
