Job Description:
The Division of Academic Affairs at the State University of New York College at Oneonta (SUNY Oneonta) invites applications for the position of Director of Global Education. The successful candidate will join an experienced division that has forward momentum as it continues to strengthen the college's outstanding academic portfolio with dynamic curricular and co-curricular experiences, and a renewed focus on internationalizing the curriculum.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide visionary leadership to the Office of Global Education. The Office of Global Education is part of the College's strategic growth of applied learning opportunities, one of the areas for which the college is recognized in national rankings.
The Global Education Office is located in the College's recently created Experiential Learning Center, allowing for collaboration with other programs promoting experiential learning opportunities for students in support of SUNY Oneonta's mission and values. This position includes supervision and management of staff, and reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Responsibilities of the Director for Global Education
The Director will be expected to:
provide oversight of a fast-paced, and exciting work environment;
find creative ways to develop strategies to increase interest in and access to international opportunities for students;
work closely with offices across the College as well as with stakeholders abroad to assess, develop and implement new partnerships through research and market analysis;
maintain open communication with international partners for the resolution of programmatic and student issues;
coordinate virtual exchanges and interactions through the Collaborative Online International Learning program;
perform essential finance and budget support; provide analysis and information gathering for year-end analysis;
serve as primary liaison for international student services including risk management and emergency response;
communicate effectively and promptly with students, faculty, staff, and partner institutions;
partner with Admissions in strengthening international student recruitment and assist with international student admissions;
collaborate with communication staff to develop a robust communication plan including international webpages and develop relevant content for international student audiences;
guide administrative staff to manage faculty-led study tours for travel abroad; insurance for incoming and outgoing travelers; and scholarship and grant opportunities to fund expansion of global learning initiatives;
support international visiting scholars, working with SUNY Office of Global Affairs to ensure compliance with U.S. visa regulations.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications
: bachelor's degree; knowledge of SEVIS Maintenance and Compliance with Federal Regulations with F1 and J1 visa holders; history of developing partnerships with international institutions; knowledge of and experience with education abroad, including requirements for international travel (international health insurance, visa processes, health and safety considerations, risk management, etc.); experience working with international students; excellent communication skills; supervisory and management skills; experience developing and managing a department budget; proven ability to work independently and simultaneously as part of a team; U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency
Preferred Qualifications:
master's degree; experience working in higher education; evidence of building collaborative relationships; evidence of community engagement and service; knowledge of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL); experience working with and serving diverse populations; experience working with faculty and/or faculty-led programs; work or student experience in another country.
