Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Partner specializing in General Liability for its Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense, and will be responsible for managing cases from inception to resolution.

Duties

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Travel as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of civil litigation experience with an emphasis in insurance defense.
• Experience handling civil cases from beginning to end.
• Proficient in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and experts.
• Skilled in drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings and trials.
• Experience in negotiations and mediations.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of NC or SC; other states a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid research abilities and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, and work in a team environment.
• Must respond promptly to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the state of NC or SC; other states a plus.
