Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Civil Litigation Defense team in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of civil litigation experience, with preference given to candidates with defense experience. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team across multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in case strategy, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, settlement negotiations, and potentially trial leadership.

Location:

• Jacksonville, FL

Duties:

• Handle and direct civil litigation defense cases, providing analysis, case strategy, and overall file management.
• Conduct discovery, take depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
• Participate in trial preparation and assist with or lead trials.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on case strategy and resolution.
• Specialize in various areas of law, including but not limited to:
  • Premises Liability
  • First and Third-Party Property
  • Construction Defect
  • Products Liability
  • Insurance and General Liability
  • Automobile Liability (PIP, BI, UM/UIM, ECL)

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of civil litigation experience.
• Defense experience preferred but not required.
• Must be a current member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and desire to develop long-term legal expertise.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.

Skills:

• Experience with civil litigation and defense strategies.
• Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
• Ability to manage cases from inception to resolution, including settlement negotiations and trial preparation.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
