Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Junior Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate for its Silicon Valley, CA office. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, particularly in business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and general commercial contracting.

Duties

• Advise clients on privacy compliance in transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions and technology transactions.
• Draft privacy and security policies and negotiate privacy-related contracts or data processing agreements.
• Provide comprehensive cybersecurity legal services, including governance, preparedness, and compliance.
• Assist in data breach response and defense of regulatory investigations and litigation.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of federal, state, and international privacy laws and technology and data flows.
• Experience counseling clients on privacy compliance aspects of transactional work.
• Superior academic credentials and strong professional references.
• California bar membership or eligibility to take the next available exam.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• California bar membership or eligibility to take the next available exam.

Skills

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with AI counseling is desirable but not essential.
