The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced contract attorney with 10+ years of civil litigation experience to assist on an as‑needed basis. This role is well‑suited for a seasoned litigator who enjoys substantive work and flexibility, and who is comfortable stepping in at various stages of litigation.

The position is primarily remote, but candidates must reside in the Bay Area and be available to attend property site inspections, depositions, and court hearings in person when required.

Responsibilities

Depending on firm needs and the candidate’s strengths, responsibilities may include:

• Drafting and revising pleadings, motions, and briefs
• Managing and responding to written discovery
• Taking and defending depositions
• Preparing for and attending court hearings
• Conducting factual investigation and case analysis
• Attending property site inspections and inspections‑related proceedings
• Collaborating with lead counsel on litigation strategy

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• 10+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably in California state courts
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Experience handling cases independently, including discovery and motion practice
• Comfort appearing in court and interacting with opposing counsel
• Familiarity with real estate, construction, or business litigation (strongly preferred)
• Excellent judgment, organization, and reliability
• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• Residence in the San Francisco Bay Area

Work Arrangement

• Remote, contract‑based engagement
• Flexible workload, depending on case needs
• In‑person attendance required for certain litigation events (no travel outside the Bay Area anticipated)
