Associate Litigation Attorney
The candidate must possess state court litigation experience; knowledge of federal court practice a plus. Litigation caseload shall include some or all of the following types of cases: probate, title curative, wrongful foreclosure suits, title disputes, eviction matters, tax issues, etc. Attorney will be responsible for a case from referral through disposition, settlement or verdict. Additional responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following: review and respond to debt disputes, ensure legal compliance regarding state and federally required notices, reinstatement or payoff quotes, loss mitigation, escrow disputes, and complete any necessary curative methods to provide the client with clear title. Provide legal advice for the Firm’s mortgage servicing clients and investors; research applicable statutes and case law, as needed. Ability to exercise professionalism and courtesy when faced with adversarial situations, as well as exude excellent customer service (internally and externally). Work effectively with a team of attorneys and staff within the litigation department and other practice areas within the Firm, 3+ years of experience in foreclosure, finance, real estate, or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters with court room experience. Experience in real estate, mortgage and/or commercial litigation strongly preferred. Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law a plus. Experience in foreclosure, bankruptcy or evictions a plus; if none, must be willing to learn. Exceptional communication skills (oral and written). Ability to travel as needed.
