Tax Manager - Estate, Gifts and Trust
The candidate will consult with high-net-worth clients on income tax, trust, estate, and inheritance tax planning and compliance. Review estate, trust, and gift tax returns, as well as closely held business returns (pass-through entities) and individual income tax returns. Assist clients with estate administration and tax filings. Manage IRS audits including detailed technical aspects related to gift and estate filings. Conduct research using Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Bloomberg BNA, and CCH tax research programs. Ability to review a variety of legal documents for tax related aspects and assist clients and internal personnel with compliance and planning opportunities. Develop strong working relationships and interface with directors, managers, and key leaders across the firm. Be a driver of proactive growth of niche through internal education firmwide, assessing opportunities with clients and prospects, and lead joint meetings with clients and centers of influence. Mentor professional growth and development of talented professionals in the EGT niche area. Represent Blue in the communities we service including membership in niche area professional organizations, presentations, and other opportunities.
The candidate should have CPA and/or JD. Must have 10 or more years of tax experience with a public accounting or law firm; 5+ years of experience with estate, gift, and trust taxation. Significant experience in estate taxation and trust planning is preferred. Proven financial, analytical, and technical skills. Must be comfortable working in a team environment with changing priorities and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage large engagements and supervise/motivate staff. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
