Business Development IP Content Writer
The candidate will provide support to the attorneys in the Intellectual Property (IP) group, interacting with partners and associates, and other business development and marketing resources across the firm. Will work collaboratively with the global IP team and involves taking ownership of content development and leading on client pitch opportunities. Lead engagement and implementation efforts for strategic BD pitches, proposals, presentations and profile raising opportunities for the IP group both internally and externally. Request/conduct initial research, review of opportunity and strategic analysis, writing, editing and quality-checking content, coordinating proposal schedules and deadlines, developing project plans/timelines, and adhering to proposal guidelines and firm policies. Develop proposal drafts, including writing, editing, and proofreading materials and formatting assistance. Ensure materials are error free, visually appealing, and all aspects of the materials are responsive to the client/prospective client and reflective of the firm’s differentiators. Oversee production/submission coordination and follow up initiatives. Establish and maintain strong relationships with lead partners, business development managers, and others, to assist in the development of IP and firm responses to RFP's and drafting customized content. Maintain, update and develop standard IP materials (capability statements, practice group profiles, matter lists, bios, etc.. Conducts client / prospective client research and analysis using library, knowledge management, and accounting resources. Assist with the drafting of content for thought leadership strategies including client alerts, blog postings, podcasts, social media and other marketing platforms. Develop in-depth knowledge of IP and act as firm resource regarding: collective and individual experience; legal, industry and business trends; and practice-specific marketing collateral. Complete special projects as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, English, journalism or related field is preferred. Should have 5-8 years experience in a proposal marketing/business development-related position or journalism role. Knowledge of the intellectual property space is preferred. Strong business development and marketing acumen and basic legal substantive knowledge is required.
